Peak Vision Arts Unveil Moving Remembrance Installation: Echoes of Remembrance
Written by Kane Smith on 13/10/2025
Peak Vision Arts, a collective of artists based in the heart of the Peak District, will unveil a powerful new installation to mark Remembrance Day 2025.
Titled Echoes of Remembrance, the exhibition brings together six artists whose diverse creative disciplines explore memory, conflict, peace and hope through deeply personal responses.
The installation will first appear in the window at Insuranceman, 14 Market Street, Chapel-en-le-Frith (31 October – 14 November), before moving to 89 Market Street for public viewing during the Peak Vision Arts November Show (22–23 November).
Each artist has interpreted the theme of remembrance in their own unique way:
-
Yuka Jourdain, contemporary jewellery artist, reflects on the untold stories of families who lived near the battlefields of Northern France and Belgium, exploring survival and legacy through sculptural jewellery pieces.
-
Julia Brownsword uses 2D and 3D mixed media landscapes to express peace and hope, drawing on the colours and textures of the Peak District.
-
Louise Neilson (The Peak Potter) presents ceramics inspired by the dove as a symbol of peace, honouring the women of Chapel-en-le-Frith who held families together during wartime.
-
Em Hoten, painter, captures the emotional power of reconnection through figurative oils, portraying the moment of embrace after returning from conflict.
-
Jan Hoyle, feltmaker and textile artist, explores how nature reclaims and renews landscapes scarred by war.
-
Ingrid Katarina Karlsson pays tribute to the silk embroidered postcards made in Northern France and Belgium during WWI, using layered mixed media to evoke the tenderness and resilience behind them.
Together, these artists invite the public to reflect not only on the sacrifices of the past, but on the ability of art to heal, connect and keep memories alive across generations.
