Peak Vision Arts Marks Remembrance Day with Moving Collaborative Installation

A collective of Peak District artists has unveiled a powerful new installation to mark Remembrance Day 2025. Titled Echoes of Remembrance, the work brings together six artists from Peak Vision Arts, each responding in their own discipline to themes of memory, conflict, peace, and hope.

The installation is first being displayed in the window of Insuranceman, 14 Market Street, Chapel-en-le-Frith, until 14 November, before moving to 89 Market Street as part of the group’s Peak Vision Arts November Show (22–23 November).

Each member has contributed a deeply personal response:

• Yuka Jourdain, contemporary jeweller, reflects on the overlooked families who lived on land scarred by the battlefields of Northern France and Belgium.

• Julia Brownsword draws on her mixed-media landscapes to interpret peace and hope through colour, texture and movement.

• Louise Neilson (The Peak Potter) honours the women of Chapel-en-le-Frith who held their families together while loved ones fought overseas.

• Em Hoten captures the raw emotion of reconnection through figurative oil and wax paintings of returning embraces.

• Jan Hoyle, textile artist, explores how landscapes regenerate once war ends, using felt to represent the quiet rebirth of land.

• Ingrid Katarina Karlsson takes inspiration from WWI silk-embroidered postcards, once sent to reassure families back home, reimagining them in her layered mixed-media style.

Together, the installation invites the public to reflect on the legacy of conflict and the role of art in remembrance, connection, and healing.
