Glossop’s iconic town hall, market hall, and arcade are set to reopen this November, marking the completion of a multi-million-pound regeneration project that has transformed the historic buildings into a vibrant hub for business, leisure, and community life.

Led by High Peak Borough Council, the project has breathed new life into these landmark spaces, creating opportunities for independent businesses, creatives, and entrepreneurs. The halls will also feature food and drink outlets, spaces for socialising, and flexible venues for events and community use.
The Council has partnered with The Hospitality Collective, who will manage the buildings and oversee the activities taking place within them.

A New Chapter for Glossop
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, called the project a “once-in-a-generation” investment:
“This is the most significant regeneration Glossop has seen in decades. While high streets across the country face real challenges, we’re doing something different — revitalising much-loved heritage buildings into modern spaces that support jobs, businesses, and community life.
“It’s taken longer than we’d hoped — and I share that frustration — but what’s ahead is truly exciting. These halls will soon be buzzing again with independent shops, great food and drink, and community events. I can’t wait to see people enjoying the space once more.”

Local Support Already Strong
With final fit-out work underway, The Hospitality Collective has already secured commitments from several local businesses — with 75% of the market hall space already taken.
Richard Walker, Co-founder and Managing Director of The Hospitality Collective, said:
“We’re proud to be part of this important project. The response from the local community and businesses has been overwhelmingly positive. We’re working hard ahead of the November launch and look forward to revealing some of the exciting brands joining us very soon.”
The transformation was made possible through funding from High Peak Borough Council, along with a £2 million grant from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (now part of the East Midlands Combined County Authority) through the Government’s Getting Building Fund.
Brand announcements are expected in the coming weeks. For the latest updates, follow Glossop Market Hall on social media or sign up to their mailing list via the Glossop Market Hall website.
