Fresh designs have been unveiled for the next stage of improvements at Glossop’s much-loved Manor Park, setting out a bold and inclusive vision for a new community-led space designed to be enjoyed by teenagers, adults and families alike.

High Peak Borough Council has already delivered upgrades to the toddler play area and replaced equipment in the older children’s play area. The next phase focuses on redeveloping the section currently home to the tennis courts, basketball courts and football space.
The new plans propose an open, accessible area encouraging multi-generational use, with features that promote movement, mental wellbeing and social connection. Improvements to the adjacent 5-a-side pitch are also under consideration.
The designs are the result of two years of community engagement and research and reflect the unique character of Manor Park as a public green space, rather than a formal sports venue.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said:
Manor Park is one of High Peak’s most cherished green spaces, a place where people of all ages can unwind, get active and connect with nature.
It’s a vital part of our community’s wellbeing, and that’s why this Council has made it a priority to invest in protecting and enhancing spaces like this across our borough. We’re building on the improvements already made at Manor Park with a bold and inclusive vision for a new multi-use area – designed to be accessible, welcoming, and full of opportunities for movement, play and community activity. These proposals are the result of thoughtful research and collaboration, and we have been excited to share them with residents and hear what they think. Your feedback is essential in shaping the future of this space.
I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their views so far. Every comment will be carefully considered before any final decisions are made, and we’ll be coming back to the community again before any work begins on site.
