High Peak 1 A Busy Year at High Peak 1

As our first year comes to a close, we at High Peak 1 want to reflect on what an incredible year our community-focussed radio has had. None of this would have been possible without you – our listeners, supports and partners!
A Year to Remember…
This year, in 2024, we have had the privilege to support our community in so many ways:
Blythe House Hospice: Compères for the Gala Dinner and Jingle Bell Jog.
Fairfield Junior School: Helping students bring their school radio project to life.
Buxton and Leek College: Providing work experience opportunities to talented young people.
Volunteer Success Stories: Training two incredible local volunteers—one now hosts their own show, while the other coordinates outdoor events.
Local Events: Joining carnivals, hosting Christmas Lights celebrations (oh so many!), and supporting initiatives like the Gift and Toy Appeal with Youth Matters New Mills CIC.
Through free on-air support, we’ve amplified the voices of amazing organizations like Chinley Scouts, Reuben’s Retreat, Thomas Theyer Foundation, and many others.
Coming up in 2025…
High Peak 1 is currently based at Torr Vale Mill in New Mills – not that far from the sweetie factory! It has great community access and is linked by the two train lines right across Derbyshire.
In 2025 we’re looking to open this incredible facility up more often to get the community more involved, promote local bands and create more extensive training programmes for anyone looking to get into radio or the entertainment industry.
High Peak 1 is the only local radio station left, and the only one in the area able to provide such extensive training.
We’re looking to purchase our own portable radio station (radio in a trailer) so we can become more versatile and offer support to more local events. As well as creating our very own High Peak 1 version of The Live Lounge.
But to achieve this, we need your support. High Peak 1 is powered by people like you – listeners, businesses and community champions who believe in the magic and importance of local radio.

We keep High Peak 1 alive with our advertising and sponsorships. So we’re introducing some affordable advertising to keep our community high streets and businesses thriving too.

We’re also on the look out for larger sponsorships and business donations. So, if you or you know someone who would love to be involved, please do get in touch.
