New drum workshop and music events space opens in New Mills

A new percussion workshop and events space has opened in New Mills, giving local musicians and music lovers the chance to learn, build and experience drums and percussion up close.

Goyt Craft Instruments, based at Unit 1, The Creative Courtyard, Rock Mill Lane, SK22 3BN, has been launched by a local maker who has grown the business from a small garden shed project into a dedicated creative space.

The new workshop will host drum-building, lessons and a variety of percussion and music events aimed at bringing people together through rhythm and music.

The first event will take place on Saturday 21 March, featuring a Cajón masterclass showcase and group workshop led by internationally touring percussionist Jack McCarthy.

Jack performs with a range of artists and touring stage productions around the world and will be sharing techniques, performance insights and hands-on learning during the session.

Organisers say the new space is about creating opportunities for people to explore percussion in a welcoming, creative environment.

More events and workshops are planned throughout the year.
