Creative Journeys: Midlands Open Call for Disabled and Neurodivergent Early-Career Creatives
Written by Kane Smith on 20/10/2025
No Jobs in the Arts CIC, in partnership with High Peak and Hope Valley Community Rail Partnership, Avanti West Coast, and Northern Trains, has launched an open call for disabled and neurodivergent early-career creatives based in the Midlands.
Two creatives will be selected for a self-led rail residency along the scenic Buxton to Stockport line, exploring the area’s landscapes, communities, and history. Inspired by their journeys, participants will design creative activities celebrating the character of the High Peak, which will be featured in a free Creative Journeys Leaflet available online and at local stations in Spring 2026.
Each selected creative will receive a £750 all-inclusive fee, free rail passes, and tailored project support.
Helen Wright, Community Rail Partnership Officer said:
The Buxton line offers a fantastic opportunity for visitors to enjoy the landscape, history and communities in the High Peak. From canals and old mills to parkland and craggy hills, there are beautiful views to see and small but vibrant towns to explore. We are really looking forward to seeing how artists will respond to the places they see on their train journeys!
Charlie Collins, Director of No Jobs in the Arts CIC said:
This project is a chance to support two early-career creatives – and we hope it inspires anyone and everyone to get creative on their journeys, commutes and days out.
