Proms in the Park Returns to New Mills This September

The sounds of brass and song will fill High Lea Park next month as Proms in the Park makes its return to the New Mills Festival.
On Sunday, 14 September 2025, residents will have the chance to enjoy the spirit of the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms much closer to home. The family-friendly concert will feature performances from the Buxton Community Choir and the historic New Mills Brass Band – believed to be one of the oldest brass bands in the country.
The music begins at 4pm, with gates opening at 3:30pm. Choir favourites will warm up the crowd before the brass band leads the rousing finale, complete with traditional sing-along Proms anthems.
Festival organisers are encouraging concert-goers to bring along chairs, blankets, picnics, and perhaps a brolly, though homemade cakes, drinks, and ice cream will also be available on site.
Attendees will also have the chance to win unique hedgehog-themed prizes created by local artist Brian Bennett, including a hand-turned clock, wooden bowl, and pen holder, in a special event raffle. Other prizes include meal vouchers donated by local restaurants.
Tickets are £5, with free entry for children under 12, and are available online at http://bit.ly/4lCMG1G or in person from Priscilla’s Cards, Millers Refillers Zero Waste Shop, and the Rock Mill Centre in New Mills.
The event is organised entirely by volunteers from the New Mills Festival Community Interest Company, with all profits going towards future festival events.
A spokesperson for the festival said:
“Proms in the Park is one of our most popular events, bringing the community together for music, fun and family time. We’re thrilled to bring it back this year and thank our local businesses for their fantastic support.”
New Mills Festival would like to thank the above businesses, along with Brian Bennett, Bukhara, A Tavola, New Mills Cuisine, and the local Co-op for their valued support.
