Free Family Event in Chapel-en-le-Frith to Champion Better Paternity Rights
Jon Pearce, Labour MP for High Peak, is joining forces with The DadShift and Peak Power Sports to host a special DadShift Sports Day at Chapel Leisure Centre, Long Lane, Chapel-en-le-Frith, on Thursday 21st August, 5pm – 7pm.
The free community event invites dads and their children to enjoy an evening of fun, games, and sports activities – while shining a spotlight on the campaign for stronger rights to paternity leave. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and take part in football target practice, rounders, and classic sports day races.

Dadshift “Play for Paternity Leave” Sports Day
Jon Pearce MP said:
“I’m delighted to be supporting The DadShift Sports Day here in High Peak. Too often, dads are denied the chance to spend vital time with their children in those early months. Labour is committed to giving families the fair deal they deserve, and events like this help to show just how important quality family time is. I’d encourage as many dads as possible to come along, bring a picnic and take part to support for better paternity rights.”
Jack and Alex from Peak Power Sports said:
“We’re thrilled to be hosting this event at Chapel Leisure Centre. Sports are a brilliant way to bring families together, and this is a chance for dads and children to enjoy some games, laughter and community spirit. We look forward to welcoming families for what promises to be a really positive afternoon.”
Alex from the DadShift team added:
“DadShift is all about championing dads and the vital role they play. We know that paternity leave is too short and too inflexible, and families are missing out as a result. By creating spaces where dads and children can connect and play, we hope to inspire change and show why dads deserve better.”
The event is completely free, and all dads and their children are welcome.
